45 years in business

This year, attorney Gregory A. Yates will celebrate 45 years in the business of representing injured victims and their families. Admitted to the State Bar of California in 1974, Greg Yates has handled thousands of cases, large and small, from product liability and car accidents to cases involving civil rights violations and police brutality during his years as a practicing personal injury attorney.

Over the past four decades, Greg Yates has proven over and over again his ability to successfully handle high profile litigation. His case history includes the highly-publicized corruption suit in the late 1990’s against the LAPD Rampart Division involving their anti-gang unit known as CRASH. Mr. Yates represented 60 individuals in their lawsuits against the LAPD and was instrumental in successfully recovering almost $20 million dollars on behalf of his clients.

And, in the product liability case of Malik Singletary v Pellerin-Milnor, Gregory Yates was successful in recovering $5 million dollars for six year old, Malik Singletary, who lost his arm in a defective laundromat washing machine in 1997.

Most recently, Mr. Yates has been involved in the wrongful death case of 16 year old Anthony Weber who was shot and fatally wounded by an officer from the L.A. Sheriff’s Department on February 4th of this year.

During his years in practice, Gregory Yates hasn’t been content to rest on his laurels, but is proactive when it comes to improving his skills in handling personal injury cases through continued education.

Throughout the years, Mr. Yates has received recognition for his role in handling motor vehicle defect cases as well as others involving product liability. He has earned numerous honors including being the recipient of the California Lawyer of the Year Award from California Lawyer Magazine in 1997, being named to the Top 25 Lawyers in the Valley, according to the San Fernando Valley Business Journal in 2007, and being selected as a finalist for Consumer Attorneys of California — Lawyer of the Year in 2005.
